Preparation Checklist
For Indoor Installation
Before starting your project, consider painting a black border around the edge of your wall. This simple trick helps conceal any small gaps if a panel is cut slightly short—black paint makes imperfections far less noticeable.
If you're installing panels behind a TV, make sure the wall bracket is securely mounted directly to the wall itself. Avoid placing the weight of the TV and bracket on the panels.
Also, plan ahead to relocate any power points or light switches if they interfere with panel placement.
For Outdoor Installation
Start strong! Use both adhesive and screws to fix the very first panel in place—this sets a perfect straight edge for the rest of your installation.
When installing panels on a ceiling, it’s crucial to use both adhesive and screws for a secure fit. If you're unable to screw directly into the structural frame or joists, it's highly recommended to install battens for added support.
Before starting, make sure to pre-drill openings for any power points, lights, or wiring to avoid complications later.
Step-by-Step Installation Instructions for Indoor
- Measure & Mark each panel's position on the wall
- Mark cut lines with masking tape on the felt side. If staples fall outside the cut line, add more before cutting.
- Cut facedown using a fine-tooth circular, band, or drop saw to protect the wood veneer.
- Apply adhesive to the felt side if gluing panels.
- Start with the tongue side (wood slats to the left, not felt overhang) and overlap the next panel accordingly.
- Secure with black screws through the felt to hold while adhesive sets.
- Trim the final panel with a utility knife if it's too wide.
Step-by-Step Installation Instructions for Outdoor
- Measure and mark each panel’s position on your surface (wall, fence, or ceiling).
- Cut panels using a circular or drop saw with a fine-tooth blade.
- Start with the tongue side—ensure each new panel overlaps the previous for hidden screws and a seamless finish.
- Repeat until your installation is complete.
- Finish with edge trims like Edge Banding, Exterior Corners, or Cover Panels in matching colours.
